Journal Policies

At Journal of Pharma Insights and Research, we take pride in our rigorous and transparent double-blind peer review process. This procedure ensures the quality, credibility, and impartiality of the research we publish. Here's an overview of our peer review process:

  1. Submission:

Authors submit their manuscripts through our user-friendly online submission system.

  1. Initial Assessment:

Upon submission, our editorial team conducts an initial assessment to ensure that the manuscript adheres to our submission guidelines and is suitable for peer review.

  1. Double-Blind Review:
  • Assignment: The manuscript is assigned to two expert reviewers with relevant expertise in the field. These reviewers are carefully selected to maintain anonymity.
  • Blind Review: Reviewers evaluate the manuscript without knowledge of the authors' identities, and vice versa. This double-blind process ensures an unbiased assessment.
  1. Peer Review Evaluation:

Reviewers thoroughly evaluate the manuscript, considering factors such as originality, methodology, significance, and presentation.

  1. Reviewer Recommendations:
  • Acceptance: If both reviewers recommend acceptance, the manuscript moves to the acceptance stage.
  • Revision: If reviewers suggest revisions, authors are invited to make the necessary improvements.
  • Rejection: If reviewers recommend rejection, the manuscript undergoes further assessment by our editorial team.
  1. Editorial Decision:

Based on reviewer recommendations and editorial evaluation, the Editor-in-Chief makes a final decision:

  • Acceptance: The manuscript is accepted for publication.
  • Minor Revisions: Authors are required to address minor revisions suggested by reviewers.
  • Major Revisions: Authors must make significant revisions and resubmit the manuscript.
  • Rejection: Manuscripts that do not meet our quality standards may be rejected.
  1. Author Revision:

Authors have the opportunity to revise their manuscripts based on reviewer feedback and editorial recommendations.

  1. Final Review:

Revised manuscripts undergo a final review to ensure that all revisions have been appropriately addressed.

  1. Publication:

Accepted manuscripts are published in the next available issue of Pharma Insights Journal.

  1. Post-Publication Engagement:

Engage with your readers and the global research community through our interactive platform. Discuss your research findings, answer questions, and contribute to ongoing scientific dialogue.

Our commitment to double-blind peer review ensures that your research is rigorously evaluated and that our readers can trust the quality of the content we publish. We value transparency, integrity, and collaboration, and our peer review process is a testament to these principles.

  1. Publication Ethics and Plagiarism Policy

Journal of Pharma Insights and Research (JOPIR) will strictly adhere to the plagiarism policy. The content of the manuscript should not be plagiarized and proper references must be provided for the information that was extracted from various sources of the literature available. All the submitted manuscripts will be screened by using the Plagiarism Detection Software. Authors should obtain necessary permissions for using copyright material in terms of artwork, adaptations etc.

Plagiarism in any form is not acceptable under any circumstances. A declaration of original work must be submitted with the final article, failing which the article will not be considered for editorial screening. Author/s must ensure the authenticity of the articles. Any unethical behaviour (plagiarism, false data etc.) may lead to the rejection of the article at any stage (peer review, editing etc.). Published articles may be withdrawn if plagiarism and/or falsifying results are indicated.

To handle the cases of research and publication misconduct, JOPIR follows the guidelines issued by Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

  1. Publication Charge

The publication charge for a manuscript is 15 USD for the foreign authors and Rs.1000 for the Indian authors which should be paid upon the acceptance of the manuscript.

  1. Policies on Conflict of Interest

JOPIR requires all authors to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could inappropriately influence (bias) their work. A conflict of interest may be financial (e.g., employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert testimony) or non-financial (e.g., personal relationships, academic competition).

  • Author Disclosure: Authors must include a "Conflict of Interest" statement at the end of their manuscript. If no conflict exists, authors should state: "The authors declare that they have no potential conflicts of interest."
  • Reviewer/Editor Disclosure: Peer reviewers and editors are also required to declare any competing interests that may affect their ability to provide an unbiased evaluation of the manuscript. JOPIR follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines for handling such cases.
  1. Policies on Human and Animal Rights

JOPIR is committed to the highest ethical standards in research involving biological subjects.

  • Animal Rights: Research involving animals must be performed in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Committee for Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CCSEA), Government of India, or equivalent international standards (e.g., the ARRIVE guidelines). Manuscripts must clearly state that the study received approval from an Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC).
  • Human Rights: For research involving human subjects, authors must ensure the work was carried out in accordance with the WMA Declaration of Helsinki – Ethical Principles for Medical Research Involving Human Subjects. All such studies must be approved by an appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee.
  1. Policy on Informed Consent

JOPIR requires that all human participants (or their legally authorized representatives) provide written informed consent for participation in research and for the publication of identifiable information/images.

  • Anonymity: Identifying information, including names, initials, or hospital numbers, should not be published unless the information is essential for scientific purposes and the patient gives written informed consent for publication.
  • Documentation: Authors should state in the "Materials and Methods" section that informed consent was obtained. If the study did not involve human subjects, the statement must clearly reflect: "The present research work does not contain any studies performed on human subjects by any of the authors."
  1. Digital Preservation / Archiving Policy)

The Journal of Pharmaceutical Insights and Research (JOPIR) is committed to the long-term preservation of its digital content. To ensure that all articles published in the journal are permanently archived and accessible, we utilize the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). This service digitally preserves OJS journals through the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) program, ensuring a secure and permanent archive for the journal's scholarly content in the event that the journal ceases publication or the website is no longer online.

  1. Advertising Policy

JOPIR does not currently accept advertising from third parties on its website or within its published pharmaceutical and research articles. This policy ensures that all editorial decisions are made independently and are not influenced by commercial or financial interests. Any future implementation of an advertising policy will be strictly governed by ethical standards, ensuring that advertisements are clearly distinguishable from editorial content and do not imply endorsement by the journal.

  1. Process for Corrections, Retractions, and Expression of Concern

JOPIR is dedicated to maintaining the integrity and completeness of the scholarly record. In cases where errors or misconduct are identified after publication, the journal follows the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines to implement the following procedures:

  • Corrections (Erratum/Corrigendum): If a significant error is discovered in a published article that does not invalidate the research findings (e.g., errors in author names, formatting, or minor data inaccuracies), a formal Correction notice will be published. This notice will be linked to the original article and will clearly describe the changes made.
  • Retractions: In instances of major scientific errors, data fabrication, plagiarism, or unethical research practices that invalidate the study's conclusions, the article will be formally retracted. A Retraction notice, explaining the reasons for the action, will be published and linked to the original PDF, which will be marked with a "RETRACTED" watermark.
  • Editorial Expressions of Concern: If there is strong evidence of potential research misconduct or an ongoing investigation into a published work that may have serious implications, the Editor-in-Chief may issue an Expression of Concern. This serves as a notice to readers while a full investigation is conducted.
  • Reporting Issues: Readers or authors who identify potential issues are encouraged to contact the Editorial Office immediately. All allegations are investigated thoroughly and confidentially by the Ethics Manager and the Editor-in-Chief.
  1. Repository Policy (Self-Archiving)

JOPIR encourages authors to self-archive and share their research. Our repository policy is as follows:

  1. Versions Allowed: Authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit all versions of their paper in an institutional or other repository of their choice (e.g., University Repository, ResearchGate, Academia.edu, or subject-specific repositories).
    • Pre-print: Author may archive a pre-print (version before peer review).
    • Author's Accepted Manuscript: Author may archive the accepted version (after peer review but before formatting).
    • Version of Record: Author may archive the final published PDF (Publisher's version).
  2. Timing: There is no embargo period. Authors may deposit their work immediately upon publication.
  3. Conditions: The repository deposit must include a full citation for the original publication in JOPIR and a link (DOI or URL) to the article on the journal’s official website.

20. Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Scientific Writing

In alignment with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) standards, this journal has established the following guidelines regarding the use of AI-assisted technologies (such as Large Language Models, machine learning algorithms, or image generators) in the preparation of submitted manuscripts.

i. Authorship and Responsibility

  • AI cannot be an author: AI tools do not meet the criteria for authorship as they cannot take legal or ethical responsibility for the work, manage conflicts of interest, or enter into copyright agreements.
  • Author Accountability: Authors are fully responsible for the entire content of their manuscript, including parts produced by AI. This includes ensuring the accuracy of data, the integrity of the research, and the absence of plagiarism or bias.

ii. Mandatory Declaration

Authors must disclose the use of AI tools in the manuscript’s Materials and Methods section (or a dedicated Acknowledgment section). The declaration should specify:

  • The name of the tool/model and version used.
  • The specific purpose of its use (e.g., data analysis, language polishing, literature summarization).
  • A confirmation that the authors have independently verified the AI-generated output for factual accuracy and citation integrity.

iii. Usage Restrictions

  • Data Integrity: AI tools must not be used to generate, alter, or manipulate primary research data or clinical results.
  • Image Integrity: The use of AI to create or modify scientific images (e.g., micrographs, electrophoresis gels) is strictly prohibited unless it is part of the research design, in which case it must be explicitly detailed and justified.

iv. Author Declaration Statement (Example)

To be included in the submission files:

Statement on AI and AI-Assisted Technologies:

During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [Name of Tool/Service] in order to [Reason for use: e.g., improve readability and language/analyze large-scale clinical datasets/identify patterns in electronic health records]. After using this tool/service, the author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take(s) full responsibility for the content of the published article.

(If no AI was used): The author(s) did not use artificial intelligence-assisted technologies in the preparation of this manuscript
